Tyron Woodley Believes Dana White’s Post-Fight Comments Were “Distasteful”

Dana White and Tyron Woodley were at odds leading up to UFC 209, and it  looks like that’s continuing, following the welterweight champ’s title defense.

Prior to Saturday’s card, White referred to Woodley as a “drama queen”, after the ATT fighter argued he’s the worst treated champion in the promotion’s history. After Woodley won a majority decision over Stephen Thompson at UFC 209, White relayed that he thought Thompson had won the fight. He also criticized Woodley for his underwhelming performance.

Since then, TMZ Sports spoke with Woodley, and the powerful fighter said this about White’s comments (quote via MMA Fighting):

“Dana White thought I won the first fight but he didn’t publicly come out and say he thought I won the first fight, so I thought it was a bit distasteful for the promoter to say he thought [Thompson] won the fight. That’s like me coming out and saying as a fighter that I don’t think he didn’t do a good job of promoting the fight. Which I don’t. I don’t think they’ve done a good job of promoting me as champion…”

“I’m going to just fall back. I’m going to do my thing. But God damn, I’m going to be a tough dude to deal with.”

TMZ also spoke with White, and had this to say in response:

“Tyron Woodley came out and said he was going to destroy Thompson and there would be no question he was the champ. Well guess what? There’s questions again…”

Woodley has retained the title twice now since he knocked out Robbie Lawler last July to become welterweight champion.
