Conor McGregor’s camp for his bout with Floyd Mayweather is likely kicking into high gear, and recently Kenny Florian and Tyron Woodley weighed-in, on how the star should prepare for the fight.

McGregor and Mayweather will box on August 26th in Las Vegas, Nevada, in what is expected will be one of the biggest fights in combat sports history. On the latest UFC Tonight, Woodley and Florian offered this advice, in terms of how the UFC’s lightweight champ should get ready for the bout (quote via FOX Sports 1 press release):

“If I was him and his coaches, I’d have him sparring three – four times a week” said Woodley.  “Drilling and technique. One person in front of you throwing combinations, where you’re just defending and getting the muscle repetition.”

“Conor started as an amateur boxer originally. It’ll come down to him finding that pacing for three-minute rounds,” Florian noted. “Being able to go 12 rounds is important for him.”

Florian and Woodley were also asked what would constitute a “moral victory” for McGregor, in his bout with Mayweather:

“If McGregor can capture 2-3 or 4 rounds and last for 12 rounds, in my mind he won,” said Woodley.

“Winning a few rounds would be a big statement,” added Florian. “Hurting Floyd would be big for him too. But Conor won’t settle for    just winning a few rounds. He believes he’s going to beat Floyd.”

The venue for Mayweather – McGregor has yet to be determined, but it’s expected the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas will host the bout.
