UFC 159: Roy Nelson, Jim Miller, and Pat Healy Earn Bonuses
By FCF Staff
Pat Healy may have missed out on two title fights with former Strikeforce champ Gilbert Melendez in recent months, but the rugged lightweight made the most of his Octagon return tonight, by earning “Submission of the Night” and “Fight of the Night” honors.
Healy picked up the awards, which included $130,000 total, for his third round, rear-naked-choke victory over perennial contender Jim Miller. The latter also earned an extra 65 grand for his participation in the grueling and bloody battle.
“Knockout of the Night” went to feared slugger Roy Nelson, who floored Cheick Kongo in round one with a right overhand, and then finished the deal with a follow up punch.
UFC 159 was hosted by the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey, and saw Jon Jones defend his light-heavyweight title by stopping Chael Sonnen in round one.
