The Toronto bound, UFC 165 card has received another addition, as Canadian lightweight John Makdessi will battle Brazil’s Reene Forte at the September 21st card. The upcoming event will be hosted by the city’s Air Canada Centre and will be headlined by a light-heavyweight bout between champion Jon Jones and Alexander Gustafsson.

Makdessi (11-2) will be competing for the first time since March, when he outscored Daron Cruickshank for the unanimous decision win at UFC 158. Prior to the victory, the noted striker also record a UD victory over Sam Stout at UFC 154 in November. Makdessi, who is 4-2 to date in the Octagon, had been scheduled to fight Edson Barboza at UFC 162 but had to withdraw due to injury.

Forte (8-2) has gone 1-1 so far in the UFC, as the TUF Brazil vet defeated Terry Etim by decision in February, but was submitted by Sergio Moraes at UFC 153 last October.

UFC 165 will also feature interim bantamweight champ Renan Barao taking on Eddie Wineland, as well as rising lightweight Khabib Nurmagomedov fighting veteran contender Pat Healy.

The main card will be broadcast via pay-per-view.
