UFC 168: Josh Barnett to Battle Travis Browne

Barnett

By FCF Staff

The December 28th, UFC 168 card will feature two title fights, but it will also see rising heavyweight Travis Browne take on former champ Josh Barnett. The Las Vegas bound event will be headlined by a middleweight title bout between champion Chris Weidman and Anderson Silva, and women’s bantamweight champ Ronda Rousey will face Miesha Tate in the co-headliner.

Barnett (33-6) made his return to the Octagon a successful one at UFC 164 last month, as the veteran stopped former champion Frank Mir in the opening round. The only man to defeat the 35 year-old “Warmaster” in his last ten bouts is Daniel Cormier, who scored a unanimous decision win over Barnett last year to win Strikeforce’s Heavyweight Grand-Prix.

Browne (15-1) continues to rise up the heavyweight ranks, as “Hapa” has scored back-to-back knockout wins over Gabriel Gonzaga and Alistair Overeem in 2013. Browne’s only to defeat to date took place last October, when he injured his hamstring at UFC on FX 5 and was put away by “Bigfoot” Silva in round one.

News of the bout was reported by the Las Vegas Review Journal and the UFC proceeded to post the report on its official site.

UFC 168 will be hosted by the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, and the main card will be available via pay-per-view.
