Chris Weidman defended the middleweight title tonight at UFC 168 in Las Vegas, but once again, his victory over Anderson Silva ended in shocking circumstances.

Weidman rocked Silva in the opening round, and proceeded to land several hard shots from the top position, but the former champ recovered and made it into round two.

Early on into the second frame, Silva threw a hard leg kick, but Weidman checked the strike and the 38 year-old fighter’s leg broke badly in half. As Silva dropped to the canvas in pain, the bout was called off and Weidman was awarded his second win over the renowned fighter.

In the co-headliner, Miesha Tate put on a determined effort, but ultimately bantamweight champ Ronda Rousey caught her rival with an armbar in round three.

In another of the main card’s feature attractions, Travis Browne knocked out Josh Barnett with a brutal series of elbows, as the decorated heavyweight attempted a double leg takedown. With the win, Browne will face Fabricio Werdum to determine who will challenge champion Cain Velasquez next.
