Abel Trujillo has kicked off his 2014 campaign in a big way, as not only did the lightweight KO Jamie Varner at UFC 169, but he picked up an extra $125,000 for the thrilling bout.

Trujillo and Varner earned “Fight of the Night” for their back-and-forth slugfest, which Trujillo ended in round two with a pounding right hook. Since there were no submissions on the evening, and no “Submission of the Night”, the award was upped to $75K each.

Trujillo was also awarded “Knockout of the Night” and an extra $50,000 for the stoppage win. The Blackzilians fighter has gone undefeated in three bouts now since he was defeated by Khabib Nurmagomedov last May.

UFC 169 was hosted by Newark’s Prudential Center.
