By FCF Staff
Bobby Green will not fight three times in a four month span, as the lightweight has been forced to withdraw from a bout with Abel Trujillo, which was scheduled for February 1st at UFC 169. The promotion has announced that former WEC champ Jamie Varner has agreed to step in.
The reason for Green’s withdrawal was not disclosed.
Trujillo (11-5, 1 NC) is coming off a second round, stoppage win over Roger Bowling at UFC on FOX 9 in December. The Blackzilians fighter is 3-1 with 1 no contest in his last five bouts.
Varner (21-8-1) hasn’t fought since August, when he dropped a split decision to Gleison Tibau at UFC 164. The veteran fighter is 3-2 in his last 5 contests.
UFC 169 will be hosted by the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey. The card will feature bantamweight champ Dominick Cruz taking on interim champ Renan Barao, and featherweight champ Jose Aldo versus Ricardo Lamas.
