UFC 171: Carlos Condit to Fight Tyron Woodley

Condit

By FCF Staff

After UFC President Dana White relayed that Tyron Woodley likely wouldn’t get to face top welterweight contender Carlos Condit next, the promotion has announced that Woodley’s campaigning has paid off. The bout will take place on March 15th at UFC 171 in Dallas, which is the same night Johny Hendricks will battle Robbie Lawler for the vacant welterweight title.

Condit (29-7) is coming off a fourth round, stoppage win over Martin Kampmann in August, after losing by unanimous decision to Hendricks in March. Prior to that Condit fell by UD to Georges St. Pierre at UFC 154 last November.

Woodley (12-2) scored an impressive KO win over Josh Koscheck at UFC 167 last month to rebound from his split decision defeat to Jake Shields in June. The Strikeforce vet has also knocked out Jay Hieron since arriving in the UFC.

UFC 171 will be hosted by the American Airlines Center in Dallas.
