UFC welterweight contender Johny Hendricks

By FCF Staff

Robbie Lawler had Johny Hendricks in trouble on a couple of occasions tonight at UFC 171, but in the end, the latter managed to outscore the punishing striker to lay claim to the vacant welterweight title.

After winning the opening two rounds, Hendricks was badly stunned by Lawler in round three, and appeared to lose round four, but battled back in round five and was awarded the UD win. Although Hendricks was able to secure a couple of takedowns throughout the fight, much of the bout was contested on its feet.
