UFC 172’s Jon Jones Would “Welcome” Chuck Liddell Out of Retirement in “Superfight”

By FCF Staff

As Jon Jones prepares to defend his light-heavyweight title versus Glover Teixeira at UFC 172, the champion has found himself discussing the latter’s longtime training partner, Chuck Liddell.

Not only has Liddell been signing the praises of Teixeira, but the legendary fighter reportedly believes he would have defeated Jones in his prime. In the latest episode of “UFC Tonight”, here is some of what Jones had to say about the retired fighter’s comments.

“He’s been coming out and saying a lot of other stuff like he would walk through my punches if he ever fought me, and he would have beaten me in his prime…” said Jones. “I’m not going to sit here and insult Chuck, he’s a very loved person by the masses, so I’m just going to keep my mouth shut, but come on Chuck. Just knock it off man. I respect you.”

“At the end of the day, if Chuck wants to come out of retirement, I’ll welcome him to a superfight.”

Saturday’s UFC 172 will be hosted by the Baltimore Arena and the main card will be available via pay-per-view.
