Junior dos Santos

UFC 173 has received another compelling fight, as former heavyweight champion Junior dos Santos will fight rising contender Stipe Miocic at the May 24th card.

The event will be hosted by the MGM Grand Garden Arena, and will be headlined by a middleweight bout between champion Chris Weidman and Lyoto Machida.

News of the dos Santos-Miocic fight was reported by the Las Vegas Review Journal, and was re-tweeted by the UFC.

Dos Santos (16-3) is coming off a stoppage loss to champion Cain Velasquez in October, after knocking out Mark Hunt in highlight reel fashion last May. “Cigano” is 3-2 in his last five contests.

Miocic (11-1) has scored decision wins over Roy Nelson and Gabriel Gonzaga, after being stopped by Stefan Struve in 2012. The heavyweight has gone 4-1 in his last five fights.
