After losing a fight between Chris Weidman and Lyoto Machida, UFC 173 has received a new headliner, as bantamweight champ Renan Barao will face TJ Dillashaw.

The May 24th event will be hosted by the MGM Grand Garden Arean in Las Vegas, Nevada.

The need for a new main event materialized after the middleweight champion Weidman injured his knee, and his bout with Machida was pushed to July 5th.

Although Dillashaw (9-2) lost to Raphael Assuncao by split decision two fights ago, the Team Alpha Male fighter has gone 5-2 in UFC action.

Barao (32-1) is coming off a quick stoppage win over Dillashaw’s teammate, Urijah Faber, at UFC 169 in February. The highly regarded fighter has gone 7-0 since arriving in the UFC.
