UFC 174: Dana White Blasts Brendan Schaub-Andrei Arlovski Fight, “The Fans Lost”
By FCF Staff
Andrei Arlovski emerged with a tightly contested, split decision win at UFC 174, but the heavyweight’s Octagon return was being discussed by Dana White for all the wrong reasons.
Following the Vancouver event, White had this to say about Arlovski’s bout with Brendan Schaub while talking to FOX Sports 1 (quote via press release):
“I think everyone would agree that fight sucked. The fans lost in that fight,” the UFC President White argued. “For anyone to think Schaub got robbed, the first two rounds could have gone either way. For Schaub to feel like he got robbed tonight is absolute comedy. Schaub looked like he got hit by a baseball bat. We got robbed tonight. That should never have been on the main card tonight. That fight should have been on the prelims.”
The win was Arlovski’s third straight, and improved the former UFC champ’s record to 22-10.
Schaub had won back-to-back bouts heading into the card, and saw his record drop to 10-4.
