Not long after it was revealed top contender John Dodson will be out until 2015, the UFC has announced flyweight champ Demetrious Johnson will face Chris Cariaso next.

The fight will co-headline UFC 177, which will go down August 30th in Sacramento, California.

Johnson (20-2-1) was expected to rematch Dodson next, but the latter recently underwent knee surgery and will be out until next year.

Cariaso (17-5) has been tapped for a title shot thanks to a three fight win streak, which includes victories over Iliarde Santos, Danny Martinez and Louis Smolka.

Johnson is coming off a unanimous decision win over Ali Bagautinov at UFC 174 in June, which extended the champion’s winning streak to six.

UFC 177 will be headlined by a rematch between bantamweight champ TJ Dillashaw and former champ Renan Barao.

The event will be hosted by Sacramento’s Sleep Train Arena.
