UFC 177 has been dealt a massive, massive blow, one day before it’s set to go down in Sacramento, as Renan Barao has been pulled from the main event due to medical reasons.

According to the official announcement from the UFC, Barao fell ill while cutting weight for his rematch with bantamweight champ TJ Dillashaw.

The Brazilian outlet Globo is reporting that Barao passed out, while taking steps to cut weight, and hit his head. The former champ was taken to hospital but has been released.

Barao, however, will not be allowed to fight, and stepping in for the vet will be Joe Soto. The veteran fighter will challenge Dillashaw for the title in what will be his Octagon debut.
