Fabricio Werdum buzzed the MMA world tonight with a stoppage win at UFC 180, and the new interim heavyweight champ earned a “Performance of the Night” for the finish.

Werdum caught Mark Hunt with a thunderous knee in round two, and then closed out the fight with follow up punches. The new champ picked up an extra $50,000 for the award.

The other “POTN” went to welterweight Kelvin Gastelum, for his first round, submission win over Jake Ellenberger. Gastelum forced the welterweight contender to tap with a rear-naked-choke.

“Fight of the Night” went to bantamnweights Henry Briones and Guido Cannetti, for their preliminary scrap. Briones won the fight with a second round, rear-naked-choke.

UFC 180 was hosted by Mexico City.
