John Dodson is set to fight for the first time in nearly a year at UFC 187, and the flyweight hopes it’s the next step he takes towards legendary status.

Dodson is booked to fight Zach Makovsky tomorrow night, and it will mark the first time the #1 contender has fought since last June, when he TKO’d John Moraga. The 30 year-old, who was sidelined with a knee injury in recent months, is currently the division’s #1 contender.

While speaking to the media this week, “The Magician”recently relayed that he intends to hold not one, but three titles in the promotion (quote via UFC.com).

“I hope so because I keep talking about it, and Dana White loves me,” Dodson said. “Everybody seems to love me. If they all have my back on this, I’m willing to do it. I want to prove to everybody that the pound-for-pound king is somebody that can hold titles in every division.”

Makovsky, meanwhile, is coming off a decision win over Timothy Elliott in February. The former Bellator champ is ranked #9 at 125.

UFC 187 will be hosted by the MGM Grand Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas.
