UFC 188: Andrew Todhunter – Albert Tumenov Bout Cancelled
By FCF Staff
Tomorrow’s UFC 188 card has been reduced to 11 fights, as the promotion has confirmed that a welterweight bout between Albert Tumenov and Andrew Todhunter has been scrapped.
According the UFC’s official announcement, Todhunter (7-0) has been “deemed medically unable to compete”, and won’t make his Octagon debut as a result. A follow up report from MMA Fighting.com says that the fighter’s management confirmed that Todhunter passed out while cutting weight. Todhunter had taken the bout on short notice as a replacement for Hector Urbina.
Tumenov (15-2), meanwhile, is currently riding a three fight winning streak and is coming off a decision win over Nicholas Musoke.
UFC 188 will be hosted by the Mexico City Arena and will see heavyweight champion Cain Velasquez face interim champ Fabricio Werdum in the headliner.
