Following Kelvin Gastelum’s disastrous weight cut in January, the fighter is returning to middleweight as expected, and will battle Nate Marquardt on June 13th. The bout will be part of UFC 188, which will take place at the Mexico City Arena.

Gastelum (10-1) came in nine pounds over weight for his UFC 183 fight with Tyron Woodley, and lost the bout via split decision. Since the promising fighter has had issues in the past making 170, the UFC instructed Gastelum to return to middleweight. The 23 year-old won TUF 17 while competing at 185.

Marquardt (33-14-2) is looking to rebound from a decision loss to Brad Tavares at UFC 182 in January, after he tapped out James Te Huna last June. The former middleweight contender and 35 year-old vet is 1-4 in his last 5 fights.

UFC 188 will feature a heavyweight bout between champion Cain Velasquez and interim champ Fabricio Werdum in the headliner.
