Conor McGregor is taking home the interim featherweight title after UFC 189, as well as an extra $50,000 in bonus money.

McGregor battled back from several takedowns and the punishing top game of Chad Mendes in the main event, and stopped the contender with punches in round two. After the card, UFC President Dana White announced that McGregor earned a “Performance of the Night” award for the thrilling fight.

The other “POTN” went to bantamweight Thomas Almeida, who crushed Brad Pickett with a flying knee in round two for the KO win.

Not surprisingly, “Fight of the Night” went to welterweights Rory MacDonald and Robbie Lawler for their thrilling slugfest. The latter stopped MacDonald in round five to defend his welterweight title. Both men won an extra $50,000.

UFC 189 was hosted by the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas.
