UFC 191: Clay Collard Has Put His “Nose to The Grindstone” After UFC 188 Defeat

After incurring a defeat at UFC 188 in June, which dropped his UFC record to 1-2, Clay Collard has refocused his efforts in preparation for UFC 191.

Collard is scheduled to fight Tiago “Trator” this Saturday, after he was decisioned by Gabriel Benitez earlier this summer. The loss followed Collard’s UD win over Alex White last December, and a stoppage loss to Max Holloway last August.

Recently Collard (14-6) spoke to UFC.com, and while discussing his last bout and his upcoming scrap, the featherweight stated:

“I had a lot of things going on in my personal life and I wasn’t really focused for my last fight,” Collard said. “I wasn’t as focused as I should have been. Just having that loss now on my record, and losing to a guy I believe I’m better than really kind of bugs me. With this next fight I went and spent some time with my family and got refocused and back to why I fell in love with this sport in the first place. As soon as I found out I had this next fight booked I started training immediately and put my nose to the grindstone.

“I believe every time a person fights it’s a reflection of who they are, and I definitely wasn’t happy with my last performance. I’m way more focused coming into this fight and hungry for a win.”

“Trator” (19-5-2), meanwhile, is coming off a KO loss to Mike de la Torre in February, after he earned a UD win over Akbarh Arreola last July.

UFC 191 will be hosted by the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas.
