Daniel Cormier is set to take on one of the light-heavyweight division’s most respected strikers in Alexander Gustafsson, and the champ believes he has a plan to take out “The Mauler”.

Cormier is booked to fight Gustafsson at UFC 192 this Saturday, in what will be his first title defense, since he submitted Anthony Johnson in May. Recently Cormier spoke to UFC.com, and here is some of what the 5’11 tall champ had to say about the 6’4 tall challenger.

“Gustafsson is at his absolute best when he uses his footwork to frustrate guys where they can’t really get to him,” the decorated wrestler said. “I anticipate him doing that against me. I know he’s going to try to use his length to outwork me. I think he’ll be content to make it a stand-up fight where he’s just trying to outpoint me. But the dirtier the fight, the better it will be for me. I’m going to make sure that I’m close enough to hit him, to grab him, to wrestle him, to maul him.”

Gustafsson will be fighting for the first time since he was stopped by the aforementioned Johnson in January.

UFC 192 will be hosted by the Toyota Center in Houston, Texas.
