UFC 192: Rose Namajunas Says Days Fighting Like The “Tasmanian Devil” Are Over
By FCF Staff
After being defeated by Carla Esparza in her last outing, Rose Namajunas says fans will see a different type of fighter at UFC 192, when she takes on Angela Hill.
Namajunas hasn’t fought since the TUF 20 Finale last December, when she was decisioned by Esparza, in a bout which determined the promotion’s first strawweight champ. Esparza was stopped by the reigning champ, Joanna Jędrzejczyk, a few months later.
In advance of her fight this weekend with Hill, the 23 year-old Namajunas spoke with UFC.com, and “Thug” revealed a new approach to fighting.
“I had to learn how to control my emotions,” Namajunas (2-2) said. “When I go out there like the Tasmanian devil, it’s not a good thing. I have to play with my food a little more like a cat. I can’t just pounce. Cats are evil. They’re badasses. I needed to change my style and be more catlike.”
Hill (2-1) is also looking to get back on track, as she was decisioned by Tecia Torres this past June.
UFC 192 will be hosted by the Toyota Center in Houston, Texas, and in the main event, light-heavyweight champ Daniel Cormier will take on Alexander Gustafsson.
