UFC 194: Luke Rockhold Tells Chris Weidman He’s Not Going to “Coward Down”

By FCF Staff

Many fighters have caved under the relentless pressure that Chris Weidman brings, but Luke Rockhold says he won’t be conceding any ground when they meet at UFC 194.

Weidman has secured the 185 belt largely due to an overwhelming, come forward approach, which includes one of the best top games in the sport. Recently the champion and Rockhold were on a call to promote their December 12th bout, and the challenger had this to say about Weidman’s tactics (quotes via UFC.com):

“Chris has a lot of holes in his game and he hasn’t fought anybody that’s been able to exploit them until now,” Rockhold said. “I’m not going to sit there and coward down and let him control the ring. I’m going to stop him in the middle of the cage…”

“I’ve been sparring Cain (Velasquez) and (Daniel) Cormier my whole career basically. So I’m very used to bigger and better wrestlers in the UFC and beyond,” Rockhold added while discussing the wrestling element of Weidman’s game. “I’m used to the pressure. Weidman’s gotta think twice if he thinks his wrestling is going to dictate where this fight takes place because I deal with that sh*t every day.”

Rockhold has been booked for a title shot thanks for a four fight winning streak which includes a submission win over Lyoto Machida in April.

UFC 194 will take place at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.
