UFC 195: Robbie Lawler Says he Knew Fighter From “The Practice Ring” Would Cause “Trouble”

A couple of years ago, not many people were predicting Robbie Lawler would become UFC champ, but “Ruthless” always knew he had the potential to be great.

Lawler has long been regarded as an extremely dangerous fighter, but the feared slugger also came up short in pivotal fights against top tier opposition. Since Lawler returned to the UFC in 2013, however, the 33 year-old has gone 7-1 and has secured the welterweight title.

The champion is scheduled to fight Carlos Condit at UFC 195 on January 2nd. In advance of the bout, Lawler recently told the media the following, while discussing his recent run (quotes via UFC.com):

”I’ve always been a really good fighter but sometimes it didn’t show in my fights and I looked terrible,” Lawler said.

“But I kept going and I’ve always been one of those guys who says: if I can take that guy from the practice ring and bring him to the fight then people are in trouble.”

Lawler is coming off a stoppage win over Rory MacDonald in July. UFC 195 will take place at the MGM Grand Garden in Las Vegas.
