UFC 197 featured two of the sport’s best, pound-for-pound fighters in Jon Jones and Demetrious Johnson, and both men emerged from the card victorious.

Jones took on fellow light-heavyweight contender Ovince Saint Preux, who stepped in on short notice for injured champ, Daniel Cormier. “Bones” used oblique and side kicks to keep Saint Preux at bay throughout the opening rounds, and then turned to his wrestling in rounds four and five to win those frames as well. OSP hung in there, and showed a lot of heart, but Jones was awarded a clear cut, unanimous decision win.

With the win, Jones laid claim to the interim title and advanced to a July 9th, UFC 200 showdown with Cormier.

In the co-headliner, flyweight champ Demetrious Johnson quickly took out Henry Cejudo to defend the belt for an impressive, eighth time. Cejudo managed to take Johnson down early on, but the dynamic fighter returned to his feet, and put away the decorated wrestler with a series of strikes from the clinch.
