UFC 197: Jon Jones Reflects on Win Over OSP, “I’ve Never Been Booed in my Career”

Jon Jones

By FCF Staff

Jon Jones worked his way to  a clear cut win over Ovince Saint Preux at UFC 197, but the star is disappointed with how he performed.

Jones faced OSP in the card’s main event on Saturday, in what was “Bones” first fight since January, 2015, when he decisioned Daniel Cormier. Jones outscored OSP throughout the bout, won every round, and was awarded the UD win.

While appearing on FOX Sports 1’s post-fight show, however, Jones had this to say about his performance (quote via FOX Sports press release):

“I haven’t gotten to watch the fight yet. I was getting booed. I’ve never been booed in my career. I’m my biggest critic. I had an expectation to beat him, and I didn’t really get to do that.”

“He went orthodox a lot more that we prepared. I switched up for a southpaw, and then I wasn’t expecting him to stay orthodox and I wasn’t moving the way I was supposed to counter it.”

Jones will be booked to face the champion Cormier at UFC 200 on July 9th, provided the latter is medically cleared to fight this week.
