UFC 197: OSP to Face Jon Jones For Interim LHW Belt
By FCF Staff
Jon Jones has a new opponent for UFC 197, and its fellow light-heavyweight contender Ovince Saint Preux.
On Friday it was reported that Jones’ original opponent, champion Daniel Cormier, has withdrawn from the bout due to injury. On Saturday the UFC announced that OPS has agreed to step up on and face Jones on April 23rd. The fight will be for the interim light-heavyweight title.
According to the UFC, Cormier has an injury to the interosseous membrane in his left leg.
Jones (21-1) hasn’t fought since last January, when he decisioned Cormier. OSP (19-7), meanwhile, is coming off a UD win over Rafael Cavalcante in February.
UFC 197 will be hosted by the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas.
