UFC 199: Michael Bisping Knows He’s “Expected to Lose” And He’s Loving It

Michael Bisping is a huge underdog heading into his rematch with Luke Rockhold at UFC 199, and the outspoken middleweight contender is just fine with that fact.

Rockhold would have been the favorite to defeat Bisping in a rematch regardless, but because the latter is facing him on short notice, the betting lines favor the champ, big time. Currently some of the oddsmakers have Bisping as a -1100 underdog for the June 4th bout.

Recently the UFC held a media call to promote Rockhold – Bisping II, and here is some of what the British star had to say about the pre-fight narrative (quote via MMA Junkie.com):

“I know I’m expected to lose; the world is expecting me to lose this fight, and that’s so nice,” Bisping said. “That feels good. I haven’t had 10 weeks of evaluating footage and going through the emotional roller-coaster, feeling confident and feeling negative. I haven’t got time for that (expletive).

“I’m going to go out there and shock the world, I’m going to swing for the fences, I’m going to push that guy against the fence and unload with everything I got.”

Bisping faced Rockhold back in November, 2014, and was submitted in the second round. The perennial contender has won three straight since then, however, which includes a decision victory over the legendary Anderson Silva in February.

Rockhold has yet to fight since he took out Chris Weidman in December to become champion.
