UFC 199: Michael Bisping Shocks MMA World, Dominick Cruz Defends Title

Michael Bisping

By FCF Staff

Michael Bisping promised he was going to shock the MMA world at UFC 199, and the rugged vet did just that, by taking out Luke Rockhold in the opening round.

Bisping floored the middleweight champ not long into the bout with a thumping left hook. Rockhold managed to get back to his feet, but Bisping swarmed in and finished the fight with several more, hard punches. Bisping had taken the fight on two weeks notice after Chris Weidman withdrew due to a neck injury.

In addition to securing the 185 title, the British star also avenged a 2014 submission loss to Rockhold with the win.

In the co-headliner, the movement and diverse game of Dominick Cruz once again proved to be too much for Urijah Faber. Cruz dropped Faber early on in the bout with a hard left straight, and the latter never seemed to fully recover. After the one sided rubber match, Cruz retained the bantamweight title via unanimous decision.

Here are the results for UFC 199, which took place at the Forum in Los Angeles.
