UFC 200: Amanda Nunes Storms Through Miesha Tate, Brock Lesnar Scores Win in Return

Miesha Tate’s reign as the UFC’s bantamweight champ ended up being a short one, as the rugged vet was quickly taken out by Amanda Nunes at UFC 200.

Nunes cracked Tate with several hard punches not long into the fight, which stunned and bloodied the champion. Tate attempted to take the fight down to the mat, but Nunes defended, moved to her back, and sunk in a fight ending rear-naked-choke.

In the c0-main event, Brock Lesnar wrestled his way to a decision win over Mark Hunt, in the former heavyweight champ’s highly anticipated return. Lesnar took the opening round by taking Hunt to the ground. But in an uneventful round two, the pro-wrestler was unable to secure a takedown. In the final frame, Lesnar scored another takedown, and landed numerous shots from above. After the fight, the pro-wrestling star was awarded the unanimous decision win.

Nunes wasn’t the only Brazilian fighter to win a championship tonight, as Jose Aldo out struck Frankie Edgar to claim the interim 145 title. Aldo’s footwork and hand speed proved to be the deciding factor against Edgar, in what was a high paced and competitive fight.

And, at 205, Daniel Cormier’s wrestling ruled the day against former middldeweight champ, Anderson Silva. In round three, Silva did manage to land a punishing liver kick, but it was too little, too late, and the light-heavyweight champ won via UD. Silva was stepping in for Jon Jones on short notice, after the latter was pulled earlier this week due to a potential anti-doping violation. Tonight’s fight was a non-title affair.

Here are the results from UFC 200, which took place in Las Vegas.
