UFC 200: Brock Lesnar’s Coach Knows Mark Hunt is Dangerous, But Says Former Champ Has “Heavy Hands Too”

Brock Lesnar’s jiu-jitsu coach understands why the heavyweight’s bout with Mark Hunt is being billed as a grappler versus striker, but he’s reminding folks that anything can happen in MMA.

The pro-wrestling star will face Hunt at UFC 200 on July 9th, and since Hunt is one of the most feared strikers in the game, the consensus is that Lesnar will need to take the fight down. Recently the latter’s jiu-jitsu coach Rodrigo Medeiros spoke with MMA Fighting.com, however, and had this take on the fight:

“I see him winning on the ground, by submission, but anything can happen,” “Comprido said”. “Mark Hunt is one of the best strikers in the UFC, but Brock has heavy hands, too. A grappler like Brock, if one hand lands clean, he can knock you out, or Mark Hunt can get a good position on the ground and submit him. Logic says that Mark Hunt has the advantage standing, and Brock’s advantage is on the ground, but we’ve seen many times that anything can happen. We saw what happened at Fedor’s fight against Fabio Maldonado. You’re the favorite until the cage is closed.”

Lesnar took the heavyweight title from Randy Couture in 2008, by dropping the legend with a right hand, and finishing the fight with follow up shots. In 2011, Lesnar announced he was retiring from MMA, following a stoppage loss to Alistair Overeem.

UFC 200 will be hosted by the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.
