Although Daniel Cormier is devastated by the news that he no longer will face his rival Jon Jones at UFC 200, the light-heavyweight champ is open to fighting a new opponent.

Late on Wednesday, the promotion announced that Jones has been pulled from Saturday’s event, after being informed of a potential anti-doping violation. The UFC held a  press conference in the wake of the startling development, and during it, Cormier relayed that he is “very disappointed”.

While discussing whether he’d be interested in still fighting on Saturday, Cormier said (quote via MMA Fighting.com):

“I’ve trained hard and long, if anybody would fight [against Cormier], I would fight,” Cormier said. “Why not? I understand the difficult task it would be on two days [notice]. I’d put some weight, you know, 225, 220, I’ll fight. But I can’t fight a really big guy right now because I’ve been shrinking my body to make 205. If it doesn’t make sense for the organization or for me, it doesn’t make sense. We have always been in tune, me and the UFC, and we made these decisions together.”

UFC President Dana White reportedly added that the UFC will talk with fighters who reach out to the promotion, and express an interest in facing Cormier.

UFC 200 will be hosted by the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. Mark Hunt versus Brock Lesnar has been moved into the main event slot.
