Following Jose Aldo’s stunning, KO defeat to Conor McGregor, he repeatedly called for an immediate rematch. But now that the former featherweight champ is booked to face Frankie Edgar at UFC 200, Aldo insists he’s focused on the task at hand.

Aldo and Edgar will fight for the interim, 145 title on July 9th, since McGregor will rematch Nate Diaz on August 20th. Recently the UFC held a media call to promote it’s upcoming, Fight Week. During the call, Aldo said this about his defeat to McGregor (quote via UFC.com):

“Right now, my focus is all on Frankie Edgar,” Aldo said. “That’s really in the past for me. I’ve buried that and that stays in the past. Right now, I’m focused on Frankie – on studying him and looking at him; looking forward and not looking in the past.”

Aldo fought Edgar before in 2013, and won the memorable bout via unanimous decision. Edgar has won five straight since the defeat.

UFC 200 will be hosted by the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.
