Jose Aldo has insisted he’s focused on Frankie Edgar, but the former featherweight champ’s also so eager to rematch Conor McGregor, he’s willing to move up in weight if needed.

Edgar and Aldo are scheduled to fight for the interim, 145 title this Saturday at UFC 200, which will mark the first time the latter’s fought, since he was KO’d by McGregor in just 13 seconds. Since Aldo vigorously campaigned for a rematch with McGregor, the Brazilian star has faced repeated questions about his rival. Aldo has claimed he’s moved past his devastating defeat, but recently the highly regarded fighter stated the following (quote via MMA Fighting.com):

“No way,” Aldo reportedly said, when asked if his career could come to a close, without rematching McGregor. “Only if he stops fighting. As long as he’s in the UFC, this fight will happen. That’s a fact. We will get the belt back and be champion again.

“We’ll move up. The UFC will do this fight. It doesn’t matter at which weight. I don’t care.”

McGregor is booked to rematch Nate Diaz on August 20th, who submitted him in a welterweight contest this past March. There has been considerable speculation that if the Irish fighter defeats Diaz, he may not return to the featherweight division.

Aldo and Edgar fought before in 2013, and the latter lost the bout via unanimous decision.
