UFC 200: Travis Browne Says Media Let Him “Down” Following UFC Reinstatement

In advance of his July 9th showdown with Cain Velasquez, Travis Browne says the media let him down, after an investigation into allegations of domestic violence failed to discover conclusive evidence.

Browne was temporarily sidelined last year, after his now ex-wife accused the fighter of assaulting her. The UFC launched an official investigation into the allegations, and after no conclusive evidence was found, Browne was reinstated. No charges were ever laid.

The heavyweight recently attended a media luncheon, in advance of his upcoming fight with Velasquez. According to a follow up report from MMA Junkie.com, Browne had this to say about the media’s coverage of his reinstatement:

“You can’t believe everything that you read,” said Browne. “You can’t believe the rumors and stuff like that. Honestly, a gripe of mine was that – I’m trying to say it right – a gripe of mine was that honestly … that nobody questioned her. Everybody put their eyes on me. Everybody made stories about me. And when I was reinstated, that was the only headline: Travis Browne gets reinstated. And I’ll be honest, you guys as media kind of let me down.”

Browne argued that the media did not follow up thoroughly enough, and attempt to discover “what really happened”. The 33 year-old, who is now dating former bantamweight champ Ronda Rousey, is coming off a stoppage win over Matt Mitrione in January.
