The UFC has seen several of its championships change hands this summer, but Robbie Lawler will be looking to end that trend tonight at UFC 201.

The rugged fighter will be attempting to defend the welterweight crown for a third time this evening, when he takes on powerful wrestler, Tyron Woodley. On the latest “UFC Tonight“, light-heavyweight champ Daniel Cormier offered this take on what Lawler needs to do (quote via FOX Sports 1 press release):

“Not often do you see guys get better with age like Robbie Lawler has gotten better with age. Not only technically, but physically and cardio-wise. There’s an idea that Woodley gets tired in fights, but can he fight whole time at the pace that Robbie fights? At the end of a fight, Robbie constantly gets better. Robbie has a way of showing the judges he’s the winner and puts a stamp on the fight.”

“He goes forward, he pressures you and he has killer instinct,” Cormier added while discussing the keys for Lawler. “He knocks people out with his feet and with his hands. Robbie Lawler is a fighter through and through. His first key is he needs to cut off the Octagon. Second, he has to keep the fight on his feet and defend takedowns. Finally, he has to attack the body. Woodley has history of gassing and body shots will take it out of the gas tank.”

Lawler is coming off a split decision win over Carlos Condit in January. Woodley, on the other hand, hasn’t fought since January, 2015 when he decisioned Kelvin Gastelum.

UFC 201 will take place in Atlanta, Georgia.
