Robbie Lawler is no longer the UFC’s 170 champ, and Dominick Cruz believes how “Ruthless” fought Tyron Woodley at UFC 201, indicates the latter was in his head.

Lawler was floored by a big right hand from Woodley in round one of Saturday’s headliner, and then finished by several, follow up punches. After Woodley’s emphatic win, the UFC bantamweight champ and commentator Cruz said the following on the post-fight, FOX Sports 1 show (quote via FOX Sports 1 press release):

“Tyron Woodley was moving forward and he was able to land the right hand. Robbie Lawler usually fights moving forward. The one thing he needed to do was move forward and he didn’t do it. He was backing up tonight. If he was moving backward, there was something in his head about the power of Tyron Woodley. Tyron said he knew that Robbie was reacting to his wrestling. He got Lawler to back up and he never backs up. He did the feints and he saw the reaction and he blitzed him and knocked him out.”

The now former champ had won five straight before facing Woodley. The latter, meanwhile, has won three in a row.
