UFC 201: Francisco Rivera Doubts Urijah Faber “Wants to Fight me Again”

Francisco Rivera is booked to fight Erik Perez this Saturday at UFC 201, but after that, he doesn’t see a rematch with Urijah Faber materializing.

Rivera battled Faber back in 2014, and was pushing the latter to his limits, before taking an accidental eye poke. The referee, however, didn’t catch the foul and Faber proceeded to secure a fight ending choke.

Due to the controversial finish, there’s been calls for a rematch, but recently Faber told MMA Junkie the following:

“I tried to make it happen again,” Rivera said. “It didn’t work out. So if it happens, it happens. But I doubt he wants to fight me again, so I doubt the UFC wants to let us fight again. We’re past that now.

“But if we ever come across each other again, I definitely would like to fight him again and finish the last two rounds.”

Rivera (11-6) is coming off a split decision loss to Brad Pickett in February. Perez (15-6), meanwhile, earned a UD win over Taylor Lapilus in November.
