Leading up to UFC 205, Conor McGregor reported that he would be making a big announcement following the card, and after stopping Eddie Alvarez, the star did just that.

McGregor pounded Alvarez with his feared left hand throughout Saturday’s main event, and stopped the veteran to claim the lightweight title. In his post-fight press conference, the featherweight and lightweight champ announced that he is going to become a father in 2017. In addition, McGregor said this (quote via MMA Fighting.com):

“If you want to come at me, if you want me to stick around and help service that debt and continue to push the company, bring me on board, for real,” McGregor said. “I need to be set for life for this. If you want me to be truly on on board, then I need to be all-in on this proper, as an owner, and have an equity stake in the company. That’s what I’m looking for.”

Recently the UFC’s new owners, WME-IMG, revealed that several celebrities have stake in the company. McGregor, who has been the driving force behind the UFC’s biggest pay-per-view cards to date, is the first fighter in UFC history to hold two titles at once.
