During a recent press conference for UFC 205, Conor McGregor raised eyebrows by criticizing Eddie Alvarez, for not holding out for a better deal to fight the Irish star. But according to the lightweight champ, the offer to face McGregor was “too sweet” to pass up.

Alvarez and McGregor are scheduled to fight in the main event of the November 12th card, which will take place in New York City. Recently Alvarez appeared on the “MMA Hour“, and here is some of what he had to say, while discussing McGregor’s recent comments (quote via MMA Mania.com):

“I am happy with the money I am ready to make. I think you have to earn the right to be able to draw a line in the sand and say this is what I want and fighters have to be prepared to walk if that’s the case. I don’t think this is one I was prepared to walk away from, it’s too sweet. I think the opponent is too good of a style matchup. The money is good, everything about the fight is good. It wasn’t the one I was willing to walk away from at this time. So, I wasn’t going to sit there and nickel-and-dime UFC about negotiating a deal. The deal was good. It was fine, I am fine by it.”

Alvarez secured the lightweight title in July, by quickly taking out Rafael dos Anjos. McGregor is coming off a decision win over Nate Diaz in August, after he was submitted by the latter in March.
