More than a few people were surprised when it became clear Demetrious Johnson wasn’t going to headline UFC 216, but the flyweight champ seems unfazed by the decision.

Johnson was scheduled to fight Ray Borg at UFC 215 last month, but the latter had to pull out due to illness. Then the promotion moved the bout to this Saturday’s UFC 216 card. But, despite the fact Johnson is going for a record, eleventh title defense tomorrow, the UFC kept Tony Ferguson vs. Kevin Lee as the headliner.

During the latest “UFC Tonight“, Johnson was asked for his take on the situation, and the renowned fighter said this (quote via FOX Sports 1 press release):

“I’m a grown man. I’m thankful the UFC got me on this card. I’m going to go out there and cement my legacy as the longest reigning, defending champion.”

Recently Johnson confirmed that although he is in the co-main event, he will collect pay-per-view points from Saturday’s card. UFC 216 will be hosted by the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.
