The UFC has booked a championship fight for its January schedule, as the promotion’s confirmed that Volkan Oezdemir will fight light-heavyweight champ Daniel Cormier at UFC 220.

The January 20th event will take place in Boston, Massachusetts.

The booking comes now long after news surfaced that Oezdemir was arrested for aggravated battery in South Florida. The fighter’s manager has claimed Oezdemir was not the aggressor in the bar room incident.

Oezdemir (15-1) has gone 3-0 since he joined the UFC, and is coming off back-to-back, KO wins over Jimi Manuwa and Misha Cirkunov.

Cormier (19-1) hasn’t fought since last July when he was stopped by Jon Jones. Following the bout, Jones tested positive for a steroid and the bout was overturned to a no-contest.
