UFC Announces Singapore Card, White Says Promotion Heading to Philippines

By FCF Staff

As ONE FC continues to promote events in various markets throughout Asia, the UFC has announced it will be holding more events in the region as well in 2014. According to multiple reports, the UFC has announced that it will hold an event in Singapore on January 4th, which is expected to take place at the Marina Bay Sands.

Mark Fischer, the UFC’s Managing Director of Asia, was quoted saying in the press release announcing the card:

“This marks a bold step for UFC’s expansion in Asia and is the first of a series of events in Asia planned for 2014. After kicking off the year in Singapore, our fans can expect several other UFC events around the region on the docket next year, including two more fights at the Venetian’s Cotai Arena in Macau.”

The UFC held an event in the Chinese region last November, and Cung Le knocked out Rich Franklin in the main event. In addition to the promotion’s annual event each year in Japan, White relayed after last night’s UFC FN 27 that they plan to promote a card in the Philippines soon as well.

No details regarding the fight card for the January 4th event were disclosed.
