UFC Champ Johny Hendricks Talks GSP: “I Heard That He’s Been Watching my Fights, Re-Watching Stuff…”

Although Johny Hendricks will likely face either Robbie Lawler or Matt Brown in his first title defense, former UFC welterweight champ Georges St-Pierre continues to be a topic of conversation. It’s not surprising, of course, since the star never officially retired, and because the first Hendricks-GSP bout was so controversial.

Hendricks was asked about how he’s recovering from arm surgery, and his next opponent, in a recent interview with MMA Corner. It wasn’t long before the discussion turned to GSP. Here is some of what Hendricks had to say about St-Pierre:

“I heard that he’s been watching my fights, re-watching stuff, because he’s going to have to put himself in more danger to hurt me, to mess up my game, and that puts him in trouble. He’s been able to get away with so much because he’s been able to outwrestle people. He can’t outwrestle me, he can’t out strength me,” said Hendricks. “No matter how much weight he puts on. I think he’s at 201 right now; they say he’s been beefing up because he felt weak against me. He’s going to feel week, even if he’s at 201.”

Brown and Lawler will fight at UFC on FOX 12 on July 26th, and UFC President Dana White has said that the winner will fight Hendricks.

Hendricks decisioned Lawler in March to claim the promotion’s vacant welterweight title.
