UFC Confirms Jamie Varner Stepping in For Injured Terry Etim Against Joe Lauzon

Varner

Roland Delorme vs. Francisco Rivera Announced For UFC 149

By FCF Staff

With Terry Etim having been forced to withdraw from the upcoming UFC on FOX 4 card due to injury, the UFC has announced that former WEC lightweight champ Jamie Varner will take his place against Joe Lauzon.

Varner (20-6-1) is coming off a successful return to the Zuffa organization, as the well travelled veteran stopped Edson Barboza at UFC 146 in May to extend his winning streak to three.

Lauzon (21-7) is looking to rebound from a knockout loss he suffered versus Anthony Pettis at UFC 144 in February, after the former TUF competitor scored submission wins over Curt Warburton and Melvin Guillard.

The UFC on FOX 4 card will take place August 4th at the Staples Center in Los Angeles.

The UFC has also announced that bantamweight Roland Delorme will fight Francisco Rivera at the promotion’s upcoming July 21st card in Calgary, Alberta.

Delorme was originally expected to fight DREAM champion Bibiano Fernandes, but then it was revealed that Fernandes had never signed with the organization and the fighter has since moved on to ONE FC.

Delorme (8-1) is coming off a first round, rear-naked-choke win over Nick Denis in May, while Rivera (8-2) worked his way to a unanimous decision over Alex Soto in his last outing.

UFC 149 will be hosted by Calgary’s Scotiabank Saddledome Arena.
