Michael Chiesa is the betting lines underdog, heading into his bout this Sunday with Kevin Lee, and the lightweight contender isn’t surprised.

Although Chiesa is ranked #6, and Lee is sitting in the #11 spot, the latter’s the favorite to win their fight with odds ranging from -135 to -145. The two will battle in the headliner of UFC Fight Night 112, which will go down in Oklahoma City.

Recently Chiesa appeared on “UFC Tonight“, and while discussing the fact he’s the underdog, the “Maverick” stated (quote via FOX Sports 1 press release):

“I’m always overlooked. I’m not technical. In every fight, I have a spot that I could lose the first round. When do the odds makers ever like me? But it’s not a math equation, it’s a fight. I only care about becoming number one.”

Chiesa was also asked to weigh-in on the argument that he’s ‘just’ a submission specialist, and the 29 year-old said:

“I’m always working to round my game out, but I always get that. I have so many more tools in my arsenal, but I get just the back and get the choke.”

Lee is riding a four fight winning streak as UFC FN 112 approaches, while Chiesa has won three in a row.
