Although Rashad Evans has dropped three straight fights, the former light-heavyweight champ’s reporting he’s in a good mindset, as he gets set to compete tonight.

Evans will take on heavy handed middleweight, Sam Alvey at UFC Fight Night 114 today, which will take place in Mexico City. The 37 year-old Evans is coming off consecutive losses to Ryan Bader, Glover Teixeir and most recently, Daniel Kelly.

Recently the accomplished fighter appeared on UFC Tonight, and while discussing whether his losing streak has affected him mentally, Evans stated (quote via FOX Sports 1 press release):

“Hopefully not. I’ll go out there and do what I’m trained to do. I’m feeling good mentally. When you dropped so many fights in a row, the biggest thing is you can’t panic – just go out there and fight. It becomes harder if you make it more than just a fight.”

And in terms of his assessment of Alvey, and what the veteran does well, “Suga” said:

“He has a good range with that left hand. It’s precise and heavy. He has a lot of power in the punches. He’s durable. You have to get off on him early but you have to understand he can take the punishment and come back.”

Alvey is coming off a decision loss to Thales Leites, which snapped his four fight, winning streak.
