UFC FN 126: Donald Cerrone Still Eyeing Return to Lightweight

Although Donald Cerrone is booked for another welterweight contest with Yany Medeiros, the rugged veteran says he’s still hoping to make a return to the lightweight division.

After Cerrone was stopped by rising star, Darren Till in October, “Cowboy” reported that he planned to return to 155. But, since then, Cerrone’s been booked to fight Medeiros in a welterweight contest, which will headline UFC Fight Night 126, February 18th.

The 34 year-old was recently a guest on the UFC’s “Unfiltered” podcast, and Cerrone had this to say about his future (quote via MMA Junkie):

“I’m like 174, 175 (pounds) right now,” Cerrone said. “That’s my walk-around weight. I want to go back to 155, but my next fight is at 170, of course. I mentioned to UFC I want to go back to 155, and they said, ‘We’ll talk about it and see what’s going on after this fight.’ Who knows? I’m not here making excuses and saying it’s the weight or it’s this or it’s that. I’ve just had a bad run of luck, I guess, with getting my ass whipped.”

Prior to Cerrone’s current, three fight losing streak, the fighter had won four in a row after moving up from lightweight.

UFC FN 126 will be hosted by Austin, Texas.
